50th Anniversary of the Salem Evening News Letter Opener


This letter opener was made to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Salem Evening News. It is dual dated 1880 - 1930 and says 50th Anniversary Salem News. It is made in the art deco style out of a bronzed color metal. It was manufactured by Whitehead - Hoag of Newark, New Jersey.

 

 

Vincent's Chips 20th Anniversary Glass


In 1967 snack manufacturer Vincent's celebrated their 20th anniversary. The reverse side of the glass says 20th anniversary.  Their factory and offices used to be on Highland avenue on the corner of first st.

 

 

St. Peter's Church 250th Anniversary Figurine


St. Peter's Church on the corner of Brown & St. Peter St celebrated their 250th anniversary in 1983. These figurines were produced in two sizes to commemorate the event.

 

 

Veteran's Memorial Bridge Opening Medallion


On August 2, 1996 the bridge that spans the mouth of the Danvers River to connect Salem to Beverly opened. Their was two days of festivities commemorating this long awaited event. This bridge opening ended centuries of traffic backups when the old drawbridge was replaced with the current bridge. This medallion came in a flip Flip folder.

 

 

Salem 375th Anniversary Medallion


This medallion is one ounce of pure silver.  There were only 75 produced in this finish.

 

 

Salem, Massachusetts 350th Anniversary Medallion


This medallion was produced in 1976 it commemorates not only the nations bicentennial but also the 350th anniversary of Salem's founding.

 

 

Father Joseph Czubek 25th Anniversary Medal


Jospeh Czubek was the first pastor of St. John The Baptist Church. This medal was produced by the St. Joseph Society on Derby St. They had this medal made to commemorate Father Czubek's 25th anniversary of ordination also for the 25th anniversary of the formation of the society. It was produced by Whitehead-Hoag of Newark, New Jersey.

 

Father Mathew Monument Quarter-Centennial Medal


This medal was produced by Whitehead-Hoag of Newark, New Jersey to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Father Mathew monument in Salem. This monument was originally located on Central St. in front of the Police Station. It was later moved, perhaps the reason for the medal, to the small park on Hawthorne Blvd. in front the the Immaculate Conception Church. The Man whom the monument remembers was the founder of a society that stressed total abstinence of alcohol.
